For those of you who may not be familiar with FFA (Free-For-All) sites, it is a website that you can post links or adds to your website for free. Traditionally it is then also posted to several other sites at the same time. This will hopefully allow somebody to see your link; therefore, you get free advertising. This also helps your website create backlinks to your website. Whenever you decide to post a link, you are also giving permission (even if you do not know it) to receive emails back from the owner of the site.
What seems to happen is that many people see this as a wonderful opportunity for free advertising and get angry when, not only do they not see a flood of sales come pouring in. However, they start receiving other people’s offers. When I first came across FFA sites this happened to me and I was frustrated with the results.
Now I am not saying that FFA sites are all terrible. Let us take a look at the bigger picture of what the FFA sites true purpose is. The true purpose of FFA sites is for the owner of the site to promote their own business. It is not really a place for free advertising because they are “nice guys”.
Think about it. If it were such a goldmine for pulling in sales, they would do it themselves. They use the site as bait for getting people to their site and post links while they think they are getting “free advertising”. Then visitors get a response with a “confirmation” of their post and the site owners business ad.
The confirmation emails that you receive when you post are not SPAM. Visitors have to agree to receive the emails in order to post their link or ad. Who reads the ads on that site anyway? Is posting to FFA sites such a waste of time? You can get the occasional sale from the site; people do visit the site to post their links and occasionally glance at others to see what is there; so it is not necessarily a bad idea to use FFA sites.
What should you do? Create your own FFA site to promote your business. You should be able to find a vast amount of excellent resources out there to create your own FFA site. You will find that many providers who offer FFA sites offer both a free version and a paid upgrade. It has been found that very often the paid upgrades will pay for themselves in sales. You get what you pay for. However, always make sure you check out several providers and shop around.
Remember, this is a great way to any product including, but not limited to: vitamins and minerals, books, informational products, software, web services, and much more. Even if you have the best product or service through out the entire Internet, if nobody sees your offer, you will not be able to make any sales. Website require traffic and visitors to make sales. FFA sites can be a great options to drive traffic to your site. Also, free classified ad sites deal very similar to FFA sites and can be another great option to pursue.
Good luck and remember to be careful whenever you give out your information on websites.
